The Preview Section in Artforum (May 2008 edition) highlighted Lygia Clark’s exhibit “Lygia Clark: Somos os Propositores” (Lygia Clark: We are the Proposers) to be held in Rio de Janeiro, in August, at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil. The review written by Monica Amor stresses Lygia’s groundbreaking in the aesthetics of participative art and the use of “Objetos Sensoriais” (Sensory Objects) made by ordinary materials which are available to be handled by the viewers. Amor stresses that the exhibit will focus on replicas to be freely handled by the viewers, and on the catalogue that will include a significant number of letters and notes unpublished since then, and extracted from the artist’s diaries.
